Finding Purpose & Connection at Faith-Based Retirement Communities

As older adults plan for the next chapter of their lives, many are looking for more than just comfort and care—they’re searching for meaning, purpose and a sense of belonging. That’s where faith-based retirement communities shine. These communities not only offer high-quality residences and healthcare services, but they also nurture the spiritual and emotional well-being of their residents through shared values, beliefs and faith-driven support systems. No matter what your faith background you may be, we welcome individuals of any and all faiths as well as those who may still be finding their spiritual pathway.

Being “faith-based” simply means we are rooted in specific principles of a religious denomination or certain spiritual traditions that have shaped our culture, programs and missions. At the same time, we remain mindful, continuing to grow and evolve with our residents. From weekly prayer and worship services to on-site chaplains and programs inspired by faith, our communities offer an environment where you can choose to embrace spirituality as part of your individual lifestyle.

Benefits Beyond Brick-and-Mortar

  1. Shared Values & Spiritual Fulfillment
A significant advantage of faith-based retirement communities is the opportunity to live among others with shared values. This sense of commonality often leads to stronger social bonds, reduced feelings of isolation and an enriched quality of life. According to AARP, 80% of adults 50-80 years old say spiritual beliefs are important to their life.
  1. Holistic Care That Honors the Soul
Grace Inspired Living communities adopt a holistic approach to care—addressing not only physical and emotional needs but also the spiritual well-being of each resident. According to a Journal of Religion, Spirituality & Aging study, seniors who engage in spirituality often report higher levels of happiness, life satisfaction and even physical health.
  1. Supportive Community & Continuity of Care
From independent living to skilled nursing and memory care, many faith-based communities offer a full continuum of care. This allows residents to age in place while staying connected to their spiritual home, if they desire. At Grace Inspired Living, community programs often include pastoral care, support groups, Bible studies and volunteer opportunities that help residents maintain a sense of purpose.

Faith-Based Retirement Communities in Pennsylvania

Grace Inspired Living has two faith-based communities in PA, Lutheran Community at Telford and The Community at Rockhill. Both communities provide opportunities for residents who desire to participate in religious offerings on campus. Additionally, residents who move locally from Pennsylvania often keep ties with their existing faith center.

These communities aim to support the Six Dimension of Wellness: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, occupational and spiritual. Residents of Grace Inspired Living communities have continued access to faith-based discussions and on-site pastoral care.

A History Snapshot of Grace Inspired Living

Grace Inspired Living began in 1935 when Katie and Wilmer Alderfer opened the Rockhill Mennonite Home in Sellersville, PA, offering compassionate care in a small convalescent setting. In 1962, Lutheran Community at Telford was founded by leaders of 12 local churches to serve seniors with dignity and faith. Throughout the following decades, both communities grew, with Rockhill expanding to a new facility in 1978. The two facilities joined together to form Grace Inspired Ministries in 2017, uniting under a shared Mission of faith-based senior living with continuing care. Finally, in late 2023, this not-for-profit parent organization evolved to who we are today, Grace Inspired Living, reflecting a renewed commitment to well-rounded, purposeful living for older adults throughout our region

A Life Rooted in Purpose

The numbers tell a compelling story. Surveys consistently show that residents of faith-based retirement communities report high satisfaction levels, not only with medical care and amenities but also with emotional support and social connection.

Choosing a retirement community is a major life decision, but for those seeking more than just a place to live, faith-based retirement communities offer an inspiring alternative. Discover your new home where community service and meaningful relationships flourish alongside high-quality care. Whether you’re planning your own next step or helping a loved one, exploring the many options available for retirement can lead to an even more fulfilling chapter of life.
